Our Flower gardens
For us, there is nothing more satisfying than being part of the seasonal cycle of growing gorgeous cut flowers. We specialize in growing harder-to-find varieties and colors, flowers that you won’t see at your grocer or even at most florist shops.
We start out in the spring harvesting creamy double narcissus and in May our peony-style and French tulips bloom just in time to celebrate local Moms. June is when the peonies are the star of the show and we are gaga over the frilly whites and pinks that we have blooming all over the property. Over the summer months we harvest scabiosa, cosmos, zinnia, lisianthus, snapdragon, astilbe, phlox, ammi, garden roses and hydrangea. In August our dahlias begin to shine. They dazzle us with their colors and shapes right through September.
We are gardeners devoted to using sustainable farming practices. By not tilling our growing beds the organisms in the soil remain undisturbed and produce rich nutrients for our plants. Above ground, we add lots of compost and use only organic fertilizers to feed our plants. We avoid applying pesticides so that our bees will thrive and our flowers are free of harsh chemicals. We capture rain water off of our barn roof into a tank that provides water to irrigate the beds.
Our little business goes to sleep in the winter months while our gardens rest so that they are ready for planting in the spring. We believe that as flowers are at their best as seasonal products we are doing our best for our community and the environment by respecting Mother Nature’s calendar.
